U.S. Army Chief of Chaplains Office, denying a Miami Herald report that Lt. Josh Llano offered baths to dirty soldiers in Iraq only if they would be baptized. The Herald stands by the story.

Asbury Theological Seminary administrators, ordering the removal of American flags placed in the school's cafeteria by the food services director. Seminary president Maxie D. Dunnam apologized for the remark.
"Abortion isn't a rights issue—it's become for increasing numbers of young people a moral, ethical issue."
Henry Brady, professor of political science and public policy at the University of California at Berkeley.
"In order to vote, you basically had to bow before the cross. I was sick for a week."
Rob Meltzer, an observant Jew who sued Framingham, Massachusetts, for locating his polling place in a Methodist church.
