Gideon Strauss argues that there are advantages and disadvantages to the professionalization of the church. In one sense, a well-run church is appealing, resonating with a business culture that desires efficiency and quality. On the other hand, a "corporate church" may have the potential to limit the type, amount, and quality of vocational discipleship that could benefit its parishioners.
