As U.S. lawmakers grappled with what to do about the tens of thousands of unaccompanied children fleeing gang violence in Central America, churches in Texas and other border states offered shelter and clothing. A National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference–led campaign aims to help families create Christ-centered homes that keep children safer (and in their home countries), while a Latin Evangelical Alliance campaign aims to increase aid and disrupt human traffickers.
