Style: Worship-rock; compare to Chris Tomlin, Paul Baloche, Don Moen
Top tracks: “Counting on Your Name,” “God Is Coming,” “Never Stop Singing”
Tim Hughes is maturing as an artist, but that’s not necessarily a good thing. Songs are more complex: the opening track “Counting on Your Name” starts with an angelic whisper, adds Euro-rock accents, then settles into an emotive, piano-driven groove. “God Is Coming” and “Never Stop Singing” hinge on their brilliant sing-along Sunday morning choruses. But “All Glory” adds a gospel choir at the end that sounds too much like Don Moen circa 1999. A few tracks lack an obvious hook, and Jeremy Camp’s version of “Jesus Saves”—written by Hughes—is much better than the one included here.
