Top tracks: “Trust,” “This Ain’t Home”
Those with troubled souls would do well to pick up the second full-length by Seabird. The Cincinnati-based quartet sings directly to the broken and spiritually pained in almost shamelessly direct language (“Things were so simple/’til the day he walked out on your mother”). As a salve to the soul, it works wonders. But without the pointed lyrics, Rocks would fall into the already overstuffed pack of well-meaning bands whose saccharine mid-tempo piano-heavy pop feels shamelessly crafted for insertion in the closing montage of an hour-long TV drama.
