Editor’s Note from July 05, 1974

At the recent Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas, I was impressed by the commitment of the messengers to evangelism and missions. The auditorium was packed for the closing address by Billy Graham, and those who couldn’t get in watched by closed-circuit TV. It was a stirring occasion.

On page 3 of this issue, announcement is made of the twenty-fifth anniversary celebration planned for Mr. Graham in September. As we look ahead to that, I would like to ask readers who were converted at a Graham crusade and are now in full-time Christian service to send me a postcard telling who you are, when and at what crusade you were converted, and what kind of Christian service you are engaged in. Thanks to all who respond.

As I prepare to leave for Lausanne, Switzerland, I would like to ask you to read our lead editorial (page 28) and then offer a prayer on behalf of the Congress on World Evangelization. Pray that the church of Jesus Christ will rise from its knees to finish the task of world evangelization.

P.S. For the next two issues C. T. will not be “a fortnightly magazine of evangelical conviction.” The conviction will remain intact, but there will be three-week gaps between issues to allow time for staff vacations. The next issues will be dated July 26 and August 16.
